The North TIER partnership is a consortium of 15 school divisions and MHz NETWORKS that provides professional development to instructional personnel (primarily teachers) in the successful integration of technology into instruction. North TIER Information and Contacts
ONLINE LEARNING North TIER sponsors ETLO, PBS TeacherLine, and its own North TIER-developed courses. Classes vary from semester to semester. North TIER offers teachers, library media specialists, Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs), and other instructional staff a variety of online courses for recertification/renewal points (and even graduate credits through PBS TeacherLine courses).Courses have a value of $200, but are offered to Virginia teachers within the consortium for $25 per course.Semesters run 3 times a year.
GRANTS The North TIER Consortium will provide up to $3000 per award for grantees to develop and implement quality professional development to increase the effectiveness of technology integration in classroom instruction.The professional development opportunities may be offered in person and/or through electronic means that will increase the effectiveness of technology integration in classroom instruction.For more information contact your district's North TIER representative.

ABOUT NORTH TIER The North Tier Partnership is a consortium of 15 school divisions in Northern Virginia and MHz NETWORKS, funded through an Enhancing Education through Technology Education Subgrant of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Public Law of 107-110. The Partnership is the recipient of a grant to provide professional development to instructional personnel (primarily teachers) in the successful integration of technology into instruction.
To this end, North TIER offers online professional development to Technology Integration Educators within the partnership’s geographic area.Such educators may be professional Instructional Technologists, classroom or resource teachers, librarians, or administrators who encourage and mentor colleagues in the integration of technology into instruction through developing, implementing, and evaluating technology-infused lessons, units, and projects.
North TIER learning opportunities are also open to private schools in the districts listed below.
