WASHINGTON, DC – A Pan-African view of the world will take the airwaves via MHz Networks 2 next month with the launch of South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) News International beginning April 1.
SABC News is the largest news organization in the country of South Africa, as well as the African continent and is the first African owned and controlled news channel dedicated to reporting continental and international news from an African perspective.
The channel is part of the SABC, the Republic of South Africa’s national public broadcaster, committed to independence, accountability, nation-building and diversity in broadcasting. The channel’s vision is to support the African Renaissance, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development and to tell the full African story for audiences on the continent and beyond.
The News and Current Affairs Division is the largest news gathering organization on the African continent, with over 13 editorial offices, a countrywide network of correspondents and over 2000 news contacts. World news is provided by premium feeds from strategically-placed foreign correspondents and international news agencies.
SABC News features bureaus in London, Brussels, New York, Washington, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Nigeria. Bureaus will shortly be launched in Brazil, Zimbabwe, the Peoples Republic of China and Jamaica.

World Today focuses on international news and current affairs in African sports, entertainment and business.
Into Africa is a high-end travel show that unearths the hidden treasures of Africa by exploring rich diversity, shifting perspectives, visiting distinctive landscapes and hot-spots.
The channel will also include live streaming of French news bulletins via the SABC News website at http://www.sabcnews.com/features/news_international/.
Selected news programs will also be included in MHz Worldview, making SABC programming available throughout the US to over 15 million households via broadcast, cable and satellite.
