FALLS CHURCH, VA- Programming from China News Channel (CNC) launches April 14 on MHz Networks 1 in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

 

Various programs from CNC replace content from Metro Chinese Networks (MCN) at 1–3 PM ET on weekdays and also at 7-9 AM ET on weekends.

 

The weekday program block will be comprised of the CNC shows: World Perspective, Spotlight, World News, and Economy Report.

 

Weekend program blocks will feature CNC's Lifestyles, China View, World News, World Perspective and Global Visitor.

Veteran anchor Anand Naidoo hosts a new Monday-Friday talk program, THE HEAT, at 9:15 PM ET on CCTV News, which is available on MHz Networks 3 in the Washington, D.C. area. The program is broadcast from CCTV America’s Washington, D.C. studios, and aims to stir up vigorous debate and discussion of international issues.

The partnership was initiated and facilitated by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States of America.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- MHz Networks has concluded a distribution agreement with France 24 for the 24/7 distribution of its English language channel on KCSM TV in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

France 24 will be available to viewers in the area on November 1 on digital broadcast channels 43.2 and 60.2 and Comcast 198.

 

Since 2006, MHz has broadcast France 24 content two hours a day to viewers throughout the U.S. on its national channel, MHz Worldview, and its network of broadcast, cable and satellite affiliates.

FALLS CHURCH, VA - The Sikh Program, traditionally airing on MHz Networks 1 in the Washington, DC metro area, is on hiatus indefinately.

The program creates a better understanding of the Sikh heritage and culture through music and brief narratives. Songs in the show are sung in Punjabi, with English narration.

Tomorrow Today from Deutsche Welle will air in place of the program, typically broadcast on Saturdays at noon.

The International Mystery encore may still be watched at midnight in the DC Metro area on MHz in two ways:

FALLS CHURCH, VA – MHz Networks will expand its digital broadcast over the air channel line-up on August 1 with the addition of MHz Networks 11 and 12.

VTV America will launch on MHz 11 digital broadcast channel 30.11.

The national MHz Worldview channel will launch on MHz 12 on over the air channel 30.12

In order to receive these new channels, over the air viewers will need to manually re-scan their digital broadcast set top box and/or digital TV to recognize 30.11 and 30.12. Viewers should proceed with this process on August 1 when the new channels are available.

FALLS CHURCH, VA – VTV America will launch on MHz Networks 11 in the Washington, DC metro area on August 1.

VTV America will feature Vietnamese, English, French, Russian and Chinese language television programming featuring Vietnamese culture, news, sports, educational, travel, business news, world news and general entertainment.

Viewers will be able to watch the channel on digital broadcast 30.11. Viewers will need to manually re-scan their digital broadcast set top boxes or digital TV in order to receive the new channel.

Please note that this new channel will not be available on your cable line-up alongside other MHz channels.

FALLS CHURCH, VA - MHz Networks will discontinue the carriage of Australian Football League programming following the July 7 national broadcast. The official AFL on MHz Roku channel will also be discontinued at that time.

As a non-profit organization, MHz is no longer able to carry the content and delivery investment of AFL for the remainder of the 2012 season, as it has for the past 18-plus years.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -  Carnegie Council TVs Special, “Playing for Power,” airs nationwide on MHz Worldview on June 21 in primetime at 9 PM ET.

“Playing for Power” is an hour-long documentary which brings together little-seen archival footage and brand-new interviews with the prominent and backroom players who brought Boris Yeltsin to power in 1991, but who lost momentum during the attempts at implementing a free-market democracy in Russia.

The project is the brainchild of Carnegie Council Senior Fellow David Speedie, who has long studied the dynamics of the Cold War and the elements which brought about the end of the Soviet Union.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- MHz Networks received word from RT of technical maintenance from the source in Moscow occuring today and tomorrow.

This maintenance impacts programs and channel availability to MHz Networks.

RT will be down for maintenance today, January 17, at 3 PM ET to tomorrow, January 18, at 1 AM ET. 

MHz Worldview and MHz 1, will repeat the 1:30 PM edition of RT news at 6 PM and 11 PM ET today.

In the Washington, DC metro area, programming on MHz 4 (RT) and MHz 8 (RT Espanol) will not be available during this time frame.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- Darshan, the longest-running Indian-American television program in the United States, ceases production after 24-plus years of broadcast locally on MHz Networks in the Washington, DC metro area and also nationally on MHz Worldview.

Darshan has aired continuously in the Washington D.C. area since 1987.  Darshan America, the newest addition to the family of shows, created in 2010, also discontinued production at the end of December 2011.

Hansa Butani, producer of the the programs says, "We believe Darshan has lived a very long and exciting life. We have spent a lot of time and energy on the show, but are now ready to say goodbye."

FALLS CHURCH, VA- Viewers of the full-time RT channels in the Washington, DC metro area, as well as RT news blocks nationally on MHz Worldview will experience changes to the schedules and availability of the content due to maintenance from the source in Moscow.

All RT programming will be interrupted during the following time frame for scheduled maintenance:  Tuesday, October 18th at 4 PM to Wednesday, October 19th at 2 AM ET.

FALLS CHURCH, VA –  KCET, independent public media for Southern and Central California, launches as the 31st MHz Worldview affiliate on January 1, 2011. This launch brings MHz Worldview programming to the Los Angeles metro area through both digital broadcast and cable.

MHz Worldview will be broadcast to Middle Tennessee viewers on NPT’s digital channel, NPT2, available over-the-air on channel 8.2, on Comcast digital cable channel 241 and on Charter digital cable channel 176.

 

NASHVILLE PUBLIC TELEVISION is Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky's public television station, reaching 2.2 million viewers over-the-air and via digital broadcast, cable and satellite providers. It is watched by more than 600,000 households every week.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A half-hour news broadcast from the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) airs daily on MHz Networks’ nationally distributed channel, MHz Worldview. The program is also available in the Washington, DC metro area on MHz Networks 1. The newscast airs 5:30 PM ET daily.

FALLS CHURCH, VA-  Mountain Lake PBS of Plattsburgh, NY announces the launch of MHz Worldview. 

Mountain Lake becomes the 26th national MHz Worldview affiliate, and further extends the MHz programming reach to Canada.

MHz Worldview will be available to area viewers via digital broadcast channel 57.2, formerly the Thinkbright channel.

Mountain Lake PBS reaches over 3.9 million viewers in New York, Vermont, Quebec and Ontario, and produces award-winning local programs and documentaries. Mountain Lake also devotes at least eight hours a day to programming for children from preschool through school age.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- Beginning in January, a library of Korean TV dramas and full-length films premier nationally on MHz Worldview. 

The programs will air in Thursday night primetime.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- The world-renowned Doha Debates make their debut on MHz Worldview this January, at 11 AM ET on Sundays.

Televised eight times a year, the Debates are based on a centuries-old format, refined by the famous Oxford Union.

They focus on a single, controversial motion, with two speakers for and against. Once they have outlined their arguments, each speaker is questioned by the chairman and the discussion is then opened up to the audience for argument and a final electronic vote.

The competition progresses each Saturday, ending with the final on November 14.

The show is broadcast live from the from the MHz Networks studios, just outside the nation’s capital.

Hablemos de Salud features commentary from Dr. Elmer Huerta, nationally-renowned cancer prevention specialist and radio personality.

The innovative, Spanish-language medical program features English closed-captioning, and focuses on general health topics, medical news, answers to viewer calls, and interviews with

MOLINE, IL & FALLS CHURCH, VA- WQPT launched as the 24th nationwide MHz Worldview affiliate in August.

MHz Worldview will be available initially over the air to viewers on digital channel 24.2 from 7 am to 11 pm to over 309,900 viewers in the Moline, Rock Island market area. Area cable systems will add the channel within the next few weeks.

WQPT is licensed to Black Hawk College and serves viewers of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

FALLS CHURCH, VA- MHz Networks launches several new programs this fall on its national channel MHz Worldview. Some schedule adjustments are also taking place to make room for the new content.

The most notable changes for September include the adjustment of the prime time evening block from 8 PM to 9 PM ET daily. This includes the International Mystery, AFL, Foreign Affairs, For the Family and Strictly Global evenings. The repeats of these blocks each evening will also move from 11 PM to 12 Midnight ET daily.

WASHINGTON, D.C-  Best News Program winner, Damon Weaver, finally got the approval for his long sought interview with President Barack Obama.

The student participated in this past year’s The Shortie Awards- International News and Film Festival, with his news piece in the ages 7-10 category, in which he interviewed various newsworthy figures, including then Vice President hopeful Joe Biden.

Damon Weaver is a sixth grader at Canal Point Elementary School and student reporter for KEC TV News Team from Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary in western Palm Beach County, Florida.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI & FALLS CHURCH, VA- WGVU launches on August 4 as the 23rd nationwide MHz Worldview affiliate.

MHz Worldview will be available to area viewers on digital channels 35/DT 11 (WGVU) and 52/DT 5 (WGVK) to the over 700,000 viewers of the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Battle Creek market area.

The channel will also be available via several local cable and satellite services. Viewers are encouraged to check their local listings.

MHz Worldview will be available to area viewers on WNEO-DT 45.3 and WEAO-DT 49.3 to 1.8 million households (4.4 million viewers.)

Renowned cancer specialist Dr. Elmer Huerta has been named as the next president of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Huerta has dedicated his professional career to the education of others, especially minorities, about important health issues. A staple of Washington, DC radio, Dr. Huerta has also served as host of MHz Worldview's Hablemos de Salud for the past 12 years.
