MHz Networks Encourages Viewers to Experience Passport DC

As a world capital, Washington, D.C. presents unique opportunities to learn about and engage with world cultures. This spring, Cultural Tourism DC invites Washingtonians and visitors to cross borders and break down barriers.

In May embassies will open their doors, drawing in visitors to experience the music, dance, crafts, and cuisine of their nation- allowing visitors to travel around the world without leaving the city.

Cultural Tourism DC’s Passport DC coordinates activities at more than 30 embassies and cultural institutes for the entire month. Featuring street festivals, open houses, embassy events, special performances, and much more, Passport DC explores the international community that is a vital part of DC culture.

Throughout the month of May experience Passport DC:

Shortcut to Europe: EU Embassies Open House: May 7 – Tour inside the embassies of the European Union member countries and discover their distinctive cultures.

Kids World Cinema: May 13-14; 20-22 - Young cinema fans are sure to enjoy this celebration of children’s films from countries around the world. Presented in partnership with Alliance Française de Washington, this two-weekend festival features the screening of international children’s films as well as educational workshops.

National Asian Heritage Festival: Fiesta Asia Street Fair: May 21 –The National Asia Heritage Foundation, presents this street festival honoring the diverse cultures of Asia.

Meridian International Children’s Festival: May 21 – This festival introduces the next generation of global travelers to cultures around the world.

On Saturday, May 14, Cultural Tourism DC's Passport DC presents a city-wide Embassy Open House, featuring artists and artisans, performers, lecturers, teachers, and others that represent their unique cultures. Participants can find a range of educational and cultural programming that promotes global citizenship, curiosity, and interconnectedness from 10 am - 4 pm.

MHz Networks will have two tented lounge areas along the visitor route where participants can stop to take a rest, cool down, watch MHz Networks globally-minded programming and pick up some freebie items and special offers.
