Global Hit Spiral Acquired by MHz Networks- Premieres Nationally in November

FALLS CHURCH, VA –  MHz Networks, the top programmer and broadcaster of English-accessible global entertainment and news in the U.S. has acquired the French smash crime drama, Spiral.

Known as Engrenages in Europe, the ‘cop thriller series with new codes’ is a procedural crime drama series set in Paris. Created by the TV production company Son et Lumière, Sprial has met great international popularity and critical acclaim with its availability to viewers in 70 countries.

Spiral marks its American broadcast, cable and satellite premiere on MHz Worldview, the national channel of MHz Networks available to over 40 million households nationally, on November 14 at 10 PM ET. The crime drama is broadcast in French with English subtitles.

Engrenages, meaning "cogs" or "gears", foreshadows the ideas of characters succumbing to a spiral into violence, organized crime and other vices.

The series originally aired on France’s Canal+, beginning in 2005, continuing into new second and third series, with the fourth season just premiering in September 2012. The second series was funded in part by the BBC. Spiral premiered on BBC4 in 2006 and again in 2009.  A fifth and sixth series have been ordered.

Spiral joins other notable MHz International Mystery titles such as Montalbano, The Young Montalbano, Brunetti, Don Matteo, Maigret, Van Veeteren, Varg Veum, and Wallander.
