Dana Lee Cole is vice president and corporate secretary for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). Before joining the NAM in October 2004, she was vice president of community partnerships within the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Her focus was on developing and strengthening the MEDC’s relationship with economic development professionals and organizations throughout Michigan.
Dana previously served as the vice president of MEDC and Strategic Initiatives and the deputy director of Travel Michigan, the MEDC promotional division for the tourism industry. Michigan Governor John Engler appointed her to the ombudsman position in April 1999. The Michigan Ombudsman’s Office serves as an advocate between Michigan businesses and Michigan state regulatory departments. In addition, she oversaw the MEDC Export Office and the account management services staff, which includes assistance in the areas of workers’ compensation, site selection, tax abatement analysis and business cost comparisons.
Dana served as a member of Governor Engler’s policy staff from 1991 to 1996. She holds an undergraduate degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University and a graduate degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.
