Shortie first began in 2001 as the mascot for the The Shortie Awards: Student Film and News Festival, a digital education initiative to help give students the inspiration to learn film and news making.

In 2009, he is growing to represent a television show that showcases the very best of youth filmmaking from around the world.

He has been an aviator, a sorcerer, and a superhero. Shortie manages to reinvent himself year to year, just as the vibrant world of film does. Shortie looks towards the future to become an even brighter beacon to all youth filmmakers worldwide.
